THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR THE STUDY OF THE COGNITIVE COMPONENTS OF PERSONALITY
Abstract
The article provides a theoretical and methodological analysis of the problem of values and value orientations of the personality in the history of the development of psychological science. The main approaches to defining the concepts of "value," "personal values," "value orientations," and "the value sphere of the personality" are considered.
The diversity of terminological interpretations of this problematic in modern psychology is determined. The evolution of scientific concepts about values is highlighted – from philosophical comprehension and early psychological concepts to modern systemic and post-non-classical approaches. Emphasis is placed on the role of values in the structure of the personality, their interrelation with the motivational, cognitive, semantic, and regulatory spheres of the psyche. The contribution of representatives of humanistic and existential psychology to the study of the problem of values and value orientations of the personality is considered, as well as modern approaches to understanding the value sphere of the personality as a complex, open, dynamic system that is in a process of constant formation and self-development. The correlation of individual and social values, as well as the functions of values in the regulation of behavior and life activity of the personality, are analyzed. The significance of value conflicts as a factor in the development of the personality, the formation of its self-awareness, decision-making, and the construction of a life perspective is revealed. The necessity for further research into the value sphere of the personality, taking intо account the modern methodological possibilities of post-non-classical psychology, is substantiated.
