PHILOSOPHY OF UKRAINIAN MYTHOLOGY: SYNCRETISM OF BELIEFS AND INFLUENCE ON CULTURAL IDENTITY

Abstract


This article represents a study of the evolution of Ukrainian mythological ideas and their influence on the formation of the cultural identity of Ukrainians. The main attention is paid to the syncretic combination of pre-Christian and Christian beliefs, which was reflected in folk customs and festive rituals. The author emphasizes that Ukrainian mythology, although it has undergone significant transformations as a result of Christianization, continues to remain an important component of cultural heritage. The study emphasizes the connection between mythology and the daily life of Ukrainian peasants, whose culture was closely related to nature and the agricultural cycle. The article highlights the influence of pagan beliefs on the formation of worldview foundations and traditions of Ukrainians, in particular on ritual practices, such as the celebration of Easter. The article demonstrates the importance of Ukrainian mythology as a factor that contributed to the formation of national identity, preserving cultural heritage through centuries of spiritual and social transformations.
