POLITICAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN UKRAINE: STATE AND FEATURES OF DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The transitive period of the political history of Ukraine is analyzed, which is characterized by a number of crisis phenomena, in particular, an identity crisis, a crisis of legitimacy, a spiritual crisis, and a crisis of political development. It is emphasized that during this period the foundations of democratic government in Ukraine were built, a multi-party system was created, the Constitution of 1996 was adopted, the foundations of a market economy were created, which ultimately laid the foundation for further stages of the development of our state.

The main parameters and features of political transformations are highlighted – contradictions, adaptation, modernization, stabilization. It is noted that in order to overcome contradictions in the system of political and power relations of Ukraine and transition to its adaptation and stabilization, it is necessary to carry out effective political modernization. Modernization of power involves a number of significant changes: optimization of political and management institutions, increasing their level of effectiveness in terms of compliance with public and state interests, creation within the framework of the political system of mechanisms for active participation of citizens in political processes, i.e. real people’s power, establishment of mechanisms for transparent political and management decision-making and eradication reasons for corruption in power (political in particular), etc.

The need for further democratization of political-power relations is emphasized, but at a qualitatively new level and with a significant index of effectiveness. A formal approach to the democratization of the ruling system only leads to society’s disillusionment with democracy and political forces that proclaim themselves to be the bearers of democratic values.
